Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
