'People are intimidated' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' top picks to claim the Premier League this season.

Look at their outcomes against West Ham and Crystal Palace compared to those identical matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have beaten all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a crucial element why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They lead the league for shutouts (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and xGA (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the strongest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their effectiveness from free kicks is highly documented, but competing clubs still struggle to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Pedigree

What is even more notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having invested around £250m on eight summer signings in search of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the most resilient defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now operating with confidence and determination.
